Mental Health Peers Association

The Mental Health Peers Association is a non-political, non-governmental student organization. It operates under the supervision of the Student Counseling Center and in coordination with the Vice Presidency for Cultural, Social, and Student Affairs. Its mission is to encourage student participation and mutual support, providing continuous, inclusive, and community-based services to the student body.

Peer Student: A student volunteer who, of their own free will and without expectation of material reward, provides mental health-related services, including education, prevention, identification, and referral.

Objectives of the Association:

  1. Recruiting, organizing, and training students to provide services to peers in need.
  2. Expanding student participation in decision-making and activities related to counseling.
  3. Striving to explain and promote the duties and goals of the Counseling Center.
  4. Participating in organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, and other events related to mental health.
  5. Enhancing health and social capital (trust and empathy) through student participation in community-based and voluntary activities.
  6. Creating websites, newsletters, and other media to communicate with and raise awareness among the student body.
  7. Establishing connections with reputable governmental and non-governmental organizations to foster sustainable student employment opportunities.

Duties of Mental Health Peers:

  1. Participating in the Counseling Center’s promotional and educational programs.
  2. Educating and assisting students with academic issues and study planning.
  3. Educating and assisting all students (both dormitory and non-dormitory) in areas related to life skills.
  4. Collaborating with the Counseling Center in implementing community-based preventive educational programs.

Association Activities:

  • Organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, and other events in various psychological fields.
  • Holding competitions and recreational activities under the supervision of the Association’s various committees.
  • Organizing incentive and motivational programs for Association members, such as specialized workshops, field trips, etc.
  • Focusing on dormitory life to create a cheerful atmosphere with positive and lasting relationships for new students.
  • Identifying students in need of financial and counseling services and referring them to the relevant institutions.
  • Identifying students’ welfare and livelihood needs and issues affecting their mental health, and reporting them to the appropriate authorities.
